For some time my free Lodger Landlord website has been offline, but I am pleased to announce that it is now live again with a new design from Gill Bishop.
The Lodger Landlord site has extensive guidance if you want to rent a room in your house, from how to find and reference a lodger to how to get rid of them if they prove less than satisfactory.
The main part of the site is my ‘21 days of tips‘. This is a series I did quite a few years ago now, but the law has not changed much since then and it is all still valid.
Plus as part of the upgrade, I have reviewed all the posts and updated them where necessary. For example by adding paragraphs about the need for lodger landlords to do ‘right to rent’ checks.
The site also has links to our extensive collection for lodger forms (including a ‘Monday to Friday’ form) and ‘New Lodger packs’ which you can buy via the site.
With the increase last year of the ‘rent a room’ scheme tax allowance to £7,500, taking in a lodger is a good way to make some extra money, and the Lodger Landlord site has all the help you need.
This is also a useful site for you to refer your tenants to, if you agree to allow them to have a lodger to help with their rent.
