In this strange new world, we are living in during the coronavirus lockdown, new rules apply – some of which affect rented property. What now are landlords rights and obligations?
The biggest blow to many landlords is the fact that they are unable to evict bad tenants. Sometimes even where tenants would like to move they are unable to. This is causing all sorts of problems.
Help for landlords and agents
To help landlords and agents grapple with the new regime I have commissioned housing barrister and Deputy District Judge Robert Brown to deliver two webinars to explain things to us – one on general issues and one specifically on what is happening in the courts.
Replays will be available if you are unable to attend the live webinar.
Helping our charities
As this is a very difficult time for our charities, who have more to do at a time when they have had to close their shops and can no longer run fundraising events, we are making a modest charge of £12 for each webinar with proceeds to the British Red Cross and Crisis UK.
The two webinars are as follows:
Webinar 1: Dealing with Lettings – Thursday 9 April @ 10.30 am
This will look at the following:
- Repairs
- EPC, gas & electricity inspections
- Tenants withholding rent
- Buy-to-let & mortgage providers
- Viewings & new tenancies
- Net proceeds of this webinar will go to the British Red Cross
Webinar 2: Going to Court – Thursday 16 April @ 10.30 am
This will look at the following:
- What is happening to possession hearings?
- Existing possession orders
- Accelerated claims
- Other court proceedings
- Notices during the pandemic
- Net proceeds of this webinar will go to Crisis UK
Robert will also answer questions in both webinars.
