Do you rent property to sharers?

August 11, 2020 by Tessa Shepperson

If so – your property may well be classed as a ‘house in multiple occupation’ (HMO).

If it is – do you know the special rules which apply to HMOs? Or the penalties that apply if you fail to comply with them? They can be REALLY expensive!

On 19 August we are running our first ever virtual HMO Day – a day of online talks from experts, just for HMO landlords.

If you want to know more about the rules which apply to HMO Lettings – this is the event for you!

How does it work?

We are using the special ‘summit software’ we used for our Virtual Conference back in May, which worked really well.

You need to sign up and pay, after which you will be given access to the (password protected) Delegates Information page which has information about the event and the speakers and some Bonus Videos.

Then, a few days before the event takes place, you will be imported into the event software which is where you go to view the live talks (and also the replays if you can’t watch the talks live).

When we used this system for our Conference people found it really easy – you get emails from the event software giving you all the links you need to view the talks so all you need to do is click those links.

So what do you get if you sign up?

The main event consists of six talks from different experts, plus a one hour Q&A session at the end for delegates questions.

Two of the talks are from barristers, two from solicitors (one being David Smith), one from a Local Authority Enforcement Officer and one from Richard Tacagni from London Property Licensing.

You also get access to some bonus videos:

  • On the Coronavirus rules
  • Planning for HMOs and
  • Council tax for HMOs (covering both liability and valuation issues)

Plus the speaker’s PowerPoint presentations.

AND – if you are unable to attend the event on the day, it will remain online for delegates to view for the next three months (ie until November).

So – if you rent to sharers why not give it a go? You can get 10% discount with coupon code LBLGTVFW
